Munich, Germany
I am married to the love of my life and am finally able to shower him with all of the attention he deserves. I am now retired and living the life here in Europe. I am an American, he is an Australian, and this is our second overseas address. The first was Shanghai, China and now Munich, Germany. Come along and live the life with us as we continue our adventure of discovering all Europe has to offer.

WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE

It looks like the badge from The Other Side of the Pond is not working today.  I am sure it will get fixed soon and I will post it on next week's Wednesday's Hodgepodge.  I had fun with these questions.  They are always a bit unexpected yet nicely tied in with the current holidays or news.

1. Would you rather talk to everyone at a crowded party for a short time or have a significant conversation with two people?

We do parties, part of my husband's job, but I don't find the conversation that significant unless you are the one doing business.  So, because of that, I would much rather have a chat with another person about something significant or even insignificant!

2. What objects do you remember from your parent's living room?

A cherrywood table with folding leaves.  The table legs were unique.  I still have it in my home here in Munich today. I took a photo to show you, but my photos are not accessible today for some reason.  Guess it will have to wait.

3. Do you hog the bed? Steal the covers? Snore?

Me? Steal covers? Snore?

4. Speaking of Easter dinner....what is your favorite way to cook/eat lamb? Or does just the thought of that make you squeamish? If you're not cooking lamb what will be your entree du jour on Easter Sunday?

My husband is an Aussie and Down Under lamb is their "other beef".  To honor the motherland, we do a leg of lamb with roasted vegetables (pumpkin, onions, potatoes, carrots, asparagus).  I just spray them with olive oil and roast them on a tray in the oven with a sprig or two of fresh rosemary . The leg of lamb must be accompanied by the prerequisite mint jelly in order to be "true blue," or so says the Aussie.

5. Let's throw some politics into this week's mix-oooohhh...Do you know the whereabouts of your birth certificate and when was the last time you had to produce it to prove you're you?

My birth certificate is in our file cabinet, right next to the desk I am sitting at.  I had to last produce it when I got my passport renewed.  Doesn't everyone?

6. As a child, how did people describe you?

My mother called me a "night owl" which explains my penchant for burning the midnight oil. She said I had my nights and days backwards and I still find it hard to "get on track! with my body clock.  My younger sister called me "bossy."  Hey!  As the oldest, that's my job.  My brother called me "a book worm," with my nose always in a book--the same is true today. My father called me "Daddy's little girl" and I will always consider myself as such.

7. What do you complain about the most?

According to my husband, I complain the most about things that interfere with my convenience.  (I had to dig this out of him.  At first he said he didn't think I was a complainer. Ha, ha!  I love how you can fool some of the people all of the time.)  I think he is right.  If there is an easier way to do something, but it isn't available, you will hear me complain.  I guess I am just not that patient when it comes to making life more difficult than it has to be.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I have been invited to the Royal Wedding!  Not really, but the Royalists here in Munich are gathering for the BBC coverage of the festive event at a home of a friend of mine (who used to work for the BBC.) Dress is formal and hats and gloves are required.  I can't wait for the 29th to share with my British, Canadian, and Australian friends what has to be the biggest single celebrated event since the marriage of William's parents, Prince Charles and Diana over 30 years ago!

I'm really excited about the Royal Wedding, but since I am not in Europe and not getting up at 4 AM on the day of a major track meet, I will watch the highlights for breakfast and the rest courtesy of the DVD-R at my parents!

I feel much the same way as you about parties. Funny, but I definitely don't steal the covers, either!;) I had lamb once when I visited a high school friend of mine and her family in Arizona...didn't care for it, at all. Had such a gamey taste.

I'm with your husband about the mint jelly, and what fun getting to watch the wedding with friends!

I've tried the mint jelly with lamb...but I thought it tasted like eating chewing gum with meat. :) Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Yep...I forgot bossy and bookworm on mine. I think it's an oldest child's prerogative to be bossy, don't you?

The Royal Wedding Party sounds fabulous! And Charles and Diana's wedding was 30 years ago this coming July. I know this because we got married just 4 days before they did. I got up at 4 am to watch it on our honeymoon. I actually did a blog post recently comparing our 2 weddings... just for fun.

Your dinner of lamb sounds wonderful. That Royal Wedding party sounds wonderful. I can't wait to watch. I can't wait to get to the UK this summer and buy a tea towel. Being a Princess Diana fan I am sure I will want many items!!

Tip (or not, if you choose not.)

Rosemary and mustard are traditional roast lamb bastings/garnishes. I take a tip from our Greek friends who marinate in a little lemon juice. It gives a touch of Yiros tartness.

I wanna come to your house for Easter dinner. I would love to try lamb, but I want somebody to know how to cook it!

I have lots of old magazines of princess Di. We are the same age and her and I were pregnant twice at the same time. She was a beautiful person.
