You know it is springtime when the outdoor sidewalk cafes are open and people are soaking up the sun. This cafe serves champagne and it is in the middle of the Viktualienmarkt or Farmer's Market, here in Munich.
The beautiful spring flowers are a sure sign of spring when they are offered in the outdoor flower shops that crop up everywhere once the temperatures rise.
Flawless blue skies herald the fact that winter is no more than a figment of our imagination.
Spring produce is displayed in all of it's wonderful hues and forms promising delicious respite from winter's root vegetables and cabbage.
Once again the famous "Weiss Spargel," or "White Asparagus" reappears (€18.50 a kilo!!--that's $26.70 !! I've never paid that much for a vegetable. Have you?).
Water has replaced the ice in the fountains!
Flower beds show off their bright colors and sweet scent.
The world is alive!

Your pictures are so beautiful! We've had rain everyday this week and the trees are still bare. Sigh.
The flowers...the variety...WOW! No, I've never paid that much for a vegetable...and does white asparagus really taste that different from green? I wonder...not gonna pay $28 to find out though. LOL!
Wow these pictures take me back! Oh I will never forget Spargle season.....they love it...me not so much! Gorgeous pictures enjoy your sunny weekend!
Your pictures are incredible. Have a wonderful weekend.
Happy Spring!
Joyce, that is so sad to hear. But certainly good weather is just around the corner! BTW, I heard our mutual friend from Munich is coming back to the U.S.
Bobbi, Germans think white asparagus is a delicacy. It is very expensive in a restaurant as well. I've tried it and I honestly don't know what all the hoopla is.
Frau, I often think of you when I read/post about Germany. Your blog was one of the first I read when I arrived here. I hope you have some good memories of Germany.
Thank you, Debbie, for your kind words about my photos. I love to take them.
Michelle, I hope you are enjoying springtime too at the moment. Isn't it great?
We can get the white asparagus here. Last week it was $4.59 a pound! Wouldn't the Germans love this!
Ah, yes, springtime! I love all of your photos. The promise of spring is here in Michigan as well, but a little farther behind than where you are. I haven't see a tulip yet! My husband was out cleaning the garage- a sure sign of better weather. :-)
I'm following along here now. It's about time!
