I guess they vary according to your personal learning style and availability. Personally, I think my wife Sarah had great results with the VHS classes, but she also had the time to invest a few hours 5 days a week.cliff1976https://www.blogger.com/profile/12826968508225851483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4246321663580599313.post-50621963436556010372009-08-01T15:50:30.568+02:002009-08-01T15:50:30.568+02:00Thank you, Cliff, for your encouraging words about...Thank you, Cliff, for your encouraging words about the meetups. I may have to miss this upcoming one since I'm in the states until Sept. 13th. I most certainly will do my utmost to make the subsequent meetups. I'm really looking forward to it. I plan to begin German lessons once I'm back. Any good ideas of where to take them? I only know of Berlitz in Munich. Again, thanks for your warm welcome!Expats Againhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17179740220723589771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4246321663580599313.post-26244901280606506082009-08-01T07:29:29.062+02:002009-08-01T07:29:29.062+02:00when you are with a group of people speaking Germa...when you are with a group of people speaking German, you are certainly left out of the conversation.

We have certainly found that to be true. I work at a supposedly international company, but the Germans I work with don't use their English whenenver a non-German is in the room (like they've agreed to), but rather only when they're addressing her directly. German by osmosis doesn't really work -- at least not at our office. I'm glad I made everyone use German with me from the beginning.

Our expat meetups tend to be pretty English-intensive though -- so if you're looking for German-language interaction, there won't be much of it that weekend.

Welcome aboard!cliff1976https://www.blogger.com/profile/12826968508225851483noreply@blogger.com
